Prologue

-Or before I ever created a Chapter One-

My love of writing comes from my love of reading.  From as far as I can remember, I read.  I put myself to sleep inventing stories.

The first romance series I read was from French author Anne Golon.  It was the Angélique series.  It became hugely popular in the 60s, especially when the books were put into film, with the beautiful actress Michèle Mercier.  Angélique was the first collection I bought with my hard earned baby-sitting money.   I still have them.

I was young when I read the series, but I was drawn right away into the historical details.  The story is set during the splendid reign of King Louis XIV.  Add to that conspiracy, treason and sword fights, and I was hooked.

The stories I write are set in history, around 1793, in France and in England.  The time period is interesting; while the political situation is somewhat tranquil in England, France is in the throes of a revolution, the country torn apart by the Terror.  From that period Napoleon will emerge.

So there you are, born of those influences, my stories are a cross of The Scarlet Pimpernel and The Three Musqueteers.  Strong heroes and stronger heroines, unconventional for their time period, fearless and as capable of wielding a sword as their male counterpart.
