Waiting… Waiting for the next one

Do you follow your favorite artists and/or authors?  Are you waiting for their next work?

I admit to be a loyal fan of my favorite artists.  In music and in books.  I will pre-order their work and wait for them to visit my part of the world.  I’m no stalker, but I subscribe to their newsletter, website, You Tube streams, Ping, Twitter and/or Facebook.

I care enough about their work to spend the money on their album/book, and I will brave the crowds alone to see them in person.

MY CURRENT FAVORITES

I’ve taken a liking to Linkin Park in the last few years and I was thrilled when they released their album, A Thousand Suns in 2010.  LP does not produce a ton of albums, in fact, since the band started in 1996 they offered seven albums.  Seven albums in 16 years.  One could accuse them of being teases.  But they came out with two in short succession, their latest effort, Living Things, launched last June, is spectacular.

One band I love is Nighwish.  Not very well known in the US, they are from Finland and their sound is symphonic metal.  Grandiose music, perfect to write with, as the feature film of any story can be seen through their anthems.

A few of my favorite authors just came out with books:  Kelley Armstrong with The Calling, Charlaine Harris with Deadlocked, Steve Berry with The Columbus Affair.  Summer with news books, a drink and a pool, the perfect combination.  The only problem is that I read too fast.  I can finish a book before Apple sends me the invoice.

COMING SOON

On Pre-Order, I have The Black Box by Michael Connelly and Archangel’s Storm by Nalini Singh.  I’m waiting for Within Temptation to announce their American tour.  I’d love to see their new show, based on their latest album, The Unforgiving.

Are you waiting too?  Let me know!

I’m leaving you with Linkin Park’s Powerless, which was used in the movie, Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter.  Love it!

  1. I think it’s exciting that you have so many interests to look forward to, Carole!

I think the only book I wait for is Sue Grafton’s. The series started with A and I am now waiting on X, so there’s a bit of a time investment.

And, I started reading Sue’s series (Yes, we are on a first name basis. No, Sue does not know this.) when she was on L, so I bought the first half of the alphabet in paperback. Can’t switch now, so that means more waiting.

I’m not a waiter. I won’t line up for concert tickets or midnight madness sales. Sometimes I miss out on an event, but console myself with the knowledge that I’d have missed God knows how much time of my life had I stood around in a line up.

So, if you got something you think I would want, be it music or book, and I don’t line up, don’t fret. I’ll jump out of my chair as soon as the line disperses. Note, I did not wait for copies of friends’ books – the perk of reviewing! WOOT! I coul d not have waited for my copy of Fever, Little Red Riding Wolf, Love of Her Lives, to name a few.

All that said, I’ve been waiting for Shemar Moore to call…

    • Oooo… would you wait in line for Shemar Moore? Saw a picture of him the other day…

  2. Great video! I like that song, and the movie should prove quite entertaining. I’m a huge Karen Marie Moning and JR Ward fan. They are an automatic buy and preorder. :)

  3. I’m not much of a movie watcher, and I’ve lost track of music. I’ll take a look at an author’s website, yet don’t really follow what they are doing, but I do faithfully pre-order books from my favorite authors.

  4. Fun post, and so true about waiting. I’d embarrass myself if I mentioned music. I always keep my true favs firmly in the closet to avoid pitying looks, but I am really, really looking forward to the movie adaptation of “Ender’s Game.” It’ll probably stink, as most movie adaptations do, but still, I want to see it.

As for books, I must have a thing for authors named Veronica, because I’m waiting on the last of Veronica Roth’s “Divergent” trilogy and the next in Veronica Rossi’s “Under the Never Sky” trilogy.
